This collection consists of papers of Rep. David C. Hollister, and is divided into 3 series. The first series, P.A. 267 of 1976 (Open Meeting Act) (1975-79), includes the public act which was designed to severely limit closed meetings in state government. The second series, P.A. 323 of 1978 (Health Planning) (1976-78), includes the public act which dealt with the problem of eliminating the excessive number of hospital beds, which was contributing to high health care costs. The third series, P.A. 130 of 1977 (Redlining) (1975-79), includes the public act which sought to eliminate the practice of discriminating against low income ethnic or racial groups by denying housing loans, refusing insurance, or steering them away from buying property in certain neighborhoods.

David C. Hollister was born in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Apr. 3, 1942. He received his B.A. (1965) and M.A. (1968) in history and political science from Michigan State University. Hollister, a Democrat, served as Ingham County Commissioner from 1968-1974. He was elected state representative for the 57th District in 1974.
